Many government buildings across the country end up being named after local political figures. But it becomes problematic when people want to name their new government building after Harry Baals.

Baals happens to be Fort Wayne, Indiana’s longest serving mayor, and received over eight thousands votes in an online poll. Jim Baals, Baal’s great-great-nephew, says that he thinks naming the new building after his uncle would not only be an honor, but it would sine a much needed spotlight on to the great city of Fort Wayne.
“I think it’d put us on the map,” Jim Baals said. “I think a lot of people are going to snicker and laugh, but I don’t see any problem with it.”
He’s right! It’s time the people of Fort Wayne paid more attention to the Baals.
